I am back! This time I hope I can keep up with!

So, since the last time I blogged I had talked about keeping up with blogging and getting off my mental holiday and then hadn't posted for the next week or so. Well I know about 20 different excuses I can say to reason why the blogging had come to a stand still. But why bore you! Where to start? I guess I will start at my first ''Girls Night In'' party that I threw at my apartment. In my German course I have met another girl that fell perfectly in with our small group of friends from the past German classes, and that week of our party we had eaten out pretty much every night. We found that we all have a lot more things in common, and really hit it off beautifully. One nice thing when you do finally meet friends or people turning into your new friends, you already from the get-go have a BIG thing in common. Our language is not the thing we have in common which is somewhat cool, but rather living in a country that is not ours, but making our new home. You would

Mental Break is OVER!

So I have been telling myself to kick my butt and get back on board with blogging. Please forgive me and let me use the excuse of needing a personal mental break for a while. School is getting harder and I know I only have one class and that is German, but excuse me, when one class is 3 hours long and then you get stuck with homework for 2 more hours you can only deal with so much. In my class of 25 people and a room that is not much larger than my bedroom, my group of girlfriends from last semester and I met a new girl who has only been in Vienna for a few weeks and is super sweet. We are now taking her under our wings and showing her around a bit when I say showing her around I mean taking her to places where we know the food is the best. Like today after class, we had to run to Maria hilfe strasse and one of my friends knew of the best Falafal in the city. Maschu Maschu not only did they have fantasic falafal (which was GREEN!) they also had some really good lemonade. I am lookin

Hello my readers, Hope everyone has been having a good week so far. Today was my second day back at school, and I can tell you not only is it difficult to fully follow but you always tend to get the people in your class who is either really loud or not interested in the class and it makes focusing slightly a bit more difficult. I think I just need to get back into the swing of things and then it is possiable that it won't seem as difficult right now. There are 26 students in my class and my classroom now is smaller than the last room that had only 15 students. Makes it a bit difficult to claim much of any space. Right now I am in the middle of writing an article for another Expat website called Expat Arrivals so that ans school has been keeping me slightly a bit more busy than normal. So check out their site since they have some really good advice and articles about living abroad for not only Vienna, but also for a lot of other cities and countries. So if you are interested

First Day Back to School!

Image
Today is my first day of going back to my German Class for semester number two. It certainly was nice to have all of Febuary off for break, but it will nice now to have a little purpose back in my day. Last semster was certainly a bumpy road learning a new language when everything is in the language you are taking. I am taking German courses through the University of Vienna before I can start my regular courses with the University. The courses  not only focused on being able to speak German, but also reading, grammer, listening and writing in a three hour class. It certainly was not easy but so helpful. I think this was the first time I was the only American or only native English speaking person in a room or in a school in my whole life. I had heard that there was or is one or two other people in the school, that the German courses make up, that was either from the States or whose native tongue spoke English. Put it this way, I didn't mind it because it just helped me push thro

Transportation.

Hello there, hope everyone had a great weekend. I have been doing some brainstorming for my next blogs and also started to collaborate with my boyfriend. He is an artist and has so kindly take time out of his busy scheduale to draw me an illustration for this post, and hopefully giving me some more illustrations in the future. So as the title implies, I wanted to give out some information about Transportation in Vienna. Mostly on Public Transport. To me this is the best way to get around Vienna, and also to see Vienna. If you are living here it is also the most inexpensive way to get around. There are many different types of public transport and many different types of tickets to fit at best for your needs. There are StrassenBahns (Street cars/trams), Metros/Underground (U-Bahn), Buses, and SchnellBahns (fast trains). I don't want to even get into the long list of different types of tickets there are, but I will list the more useful tickets. Tickets and Prices: One Ride - €1,

Another Friday!

So my dear readers, another week has come and gone. This weekend there will not be any posts but rather me brainstorming for what to write about this coming week. My German classes are starting up this coming Tuesday, and Febuary's break has come to an end. Looking foward to seeing some old friends and meeting some new ones this coming semester. Have a great weekend and see you again Monday!

What to pack when going over seas.

Image
Packing has always been something I never enjoyed when I travel. I always make a list of certain things I don't want to forget and feel like I am going to end up forgetting something REALLY important like underwear. So this post is to help people who are wanting to travel mostly over seas and are afraid of taking too little or too much. Giving a good idea of what every person needs in their luggage while they are away. Also remembering there will be a limit to weight and the amount of number bags you can take with you when flying. So don't fill your XL suitcase to the brim. Suitcase #1  (Your biggest suitcase) - 7 to 10 pairs of socks, depending what shoes you will wear and the weather. - 10 Pairs of underwear. - 1 Nicer outfit (dress or button down shirt) - 10 Shirts (since you might want to change before going for dinner) - 3 to 4 pairs of pants/shorts - (if you are female and traveling in Spring or summer) 2-3 skirts/dresses - 2 Pairs of Jamies - Hair brush/com

Money and Living Abroad.

Image
Living abroad certainly is one of the best things I have done and still am doing. It has opened my eyes to the world and sometimes not the easy way of living specially as a college student. I have had this dream to live over seas and study here as well, so I have been saving pretty much every last cent for this. The first impression people get when you tell them that you are living and studying over seas is ''Oh! You must be RICH!'' the truth is NO! I am not saying if you have no money this is the better option, but I am saying that most every child who goes to any state University could most likely be able to afford living abroad. It is not easy, but neither can be getting big buck scholarships also. Of coarse the easy way would be to get scholarships and attending a college in the states where they speak English, and is a bit more convient and possiably some of your friends will be attending the same college. If you have not a spending problem and know how to budget
