Job Hunting in Vienna as a Student.

Image
If you either are trying to find a job in Vienna as a student that holds a Passport that it not within the European Union, search no more, you have found a place that will help you figure out the ins and outs of getting a job!  Most people studying abroad will only study for a semester and that is easier to do than doing your whole academic career abroad. Simply put, your expenses are going to be somewhat easy to save up for, or easy on your parents to pay.  But once you take the step into staying longer finances can start to dry up quickly. Yes, I am full aware that it is the same for any other college student that living off of Ramen and peanut butter is the norm. But for the most part you have a scholarship, a grant, or financial aid, which can ease the burden.  Here in Vienna I have not really found many scholarships and the ones I do find I never am eligable since I am not a citizen, or I am not a citizen of a poor country.  Studying abroad though c...

Some basic knowledge about Student Visas: All Students residing in any country that does not hold a passport from that country WILL need a visa! American's do not need to request for a visa prior to departure. American's have the privilege to stay in a foriegn country for 3 months without the need for a visa.  People from other countries might need to apply for a visa before entering foriegn territory. (check with your embassy for more information)  Onto about renewing your Student Visa in Vienna.  When renewing your visa you normally try to have all your ducks in a row so you don't need to be running around getting this paper and that paper. Any thinking person would think the most logical thing would be to take all the papers I had to hand in last time. So you go to your university re-enroll yourself for the next semester, keep the paper showing you have paid. You might even go to the extent of making sure you can prove your grades from the exams from the pa...

What to pack when going over seas part 2!

A few days ago, after doing some of my grocery shopping, I saw a family of 4 at one of the many exits of Praterstern looking very puzzled. Normally I will help people if they ask, but when seeing them stare down the map trying to figure out where they are, were they need to be I could not see them get lost any further. Plus I heard english being spoken and was secretly happy to get a few moments to speak it to another native. To find out that they were from Berbuda origanlly from Canada. They were trying to get to the Zentral Friedhof which is probably the biggest cemetary in Europe. It also holds head stones or the actual bodies of some famous composers and other famous people. Their is one part of the semetary that is just for Jewish loved ones. Which is I think the best part since during Kristall nacht a lot of Nazis came in and completely destroyed all the old headstones and used some as stones for a paved road.( it is also a famous scene in the movie ''Schindler's L...

Ice Skating, Cupcakes, and Headaches.

Today was the first time I had gone ice skating at the Rathaus and the first time I ice skated since I have been in Vienna. Wiener Eistraum was so much fun just now my legs and back are slightly in a bit of pain. It was certainly worth it, my boyfriend his mother and I went together and had so much fun. The Florida girl that I am not often ice skating and if so it is normally a hockey rink and you go just in a circle around and around. The Wiener Eistraum has much more to offer! It certainly is not a thing you go and do everyday, if you are a student it can get pricy but if you stay there for more than 2 hours and sit down sometimes and go back it is certainly a trip worth doing. After Ice skating for 3 hours or so, we all went to this cute cup cake bakery just up the road and got ourselves some yummy cup cakes. Which was a perfect ending to the ice skating. Even though during my ice skating adventure I had fallen down and slammed my arm on a post right in the area of your funny bone...
